I haven’t said anything new here in a while, but that doesn’t mean nothing’s going on for us. In fact, we have some of the biggest news in our lives:
We’re going to be parents!
If everything goes to plan, we’ll have a new little Lance or Jenny running around our house in August. Jenny has had one ultrasound so far, but it was too early to know if it’s a boy or a girl (but we did confirm that there’s only one in there). So far, the pregnancy has gone well; Jenny of course has days of discomfort (I think she’d object to this as an understatement only a man could make), but there have been no scares or major problems so far.
Otherwise, life continues here. I’m back at the same project I was on before we went to Germany, and Jenny has a new job. She’s working part time as a Career Counselor at the Washington University Engineering School. She really likes her new job and the people she works with, and the timing is great; it’s part time now, and the company closes down during her third trimester. In addition, I’m taking my second-to-last class in my Masters program. I had hoped to be able to take the final class over the summer and finish before the baby arrives, but the class I need isn’t offered until the fall at the earliest.
So, life is very normal in some ways, but it’s also very different with new books, new shopping, new doctors, a changing body for Jenny, and a major addition to the family in just a few months.
